How We Helped
Challenge
Create a secure, human-centered platform that could support subsidized transportation at scale while balancing ease of use, data accessibility, reporting, and safeguards against system abuse—all on a foundation built for future growth.
Result
A scalable web platform featuring automated enrollment, SMS communication, audit logs, CRM-integrated conversation tracking, and role-based dashboards for employers and administrators. The system provides clear visibility into ridership, participation, and impact, enabling Commuter’s Trust to manage thousands of rides while keeping accessibility and equity at the core.
Who We Helped
About
Commuter’s Trust is a public-private partnership bringing together the City of South Bend, local employers, and community partners to reduce transportation barriers and take the stress out of commuting. Rooted in the belief that reliable transportation is essential to economic stability, Commuter’s Trust helps employees get to work consistently while strengthening the local economy.
Launched in 2018 with support from the Bloomberg Philanthropies Mayors Challenge, Commuter’s Trust has partnered with local employers and nonprofits to provide thousands of subsidized rides through services like Uber, Lyft, and Transpo. In collaboration with the United Way of St. Joseph County, the organization expanded its reach through the Community Nonprofit Partners Program, extending transportation access to individuals and families across the South Bend community.
