A human-centered approach is at the core of our principles. We build for the many based on the diverse perspectives of our team.
Leadership
Alex Sejdinaj, Founder and CEO
B.S. Recording Arts, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music
For Alex Sejdinaj, the starting point for any venture is a single question: is it genuinely making people better off? That conviction has driven over a decade of building technology companies focused on areas like workforce development, digital equity, and economic opportunity.
He co-founded Code Works and has led the company's growth through sales, strategy, and partnership development ever since. His particular strength is translating complex technical concepts and social impact goals into compelling narratives for the audiences that need to hear them, whether that's a city government, a chamber of commerce, or a nonprofit board.
Over the course of his career Alex has built deep relationships with economic development organizations, municipal governments, and community institutions throughout the Midwest, and has led the development of partnerships that have shaped Code Works' reach and reputation across the region.
Alexandra Sejdinaj, Founder and COO
B.A. English, University of Notre Dame
Alexandra Sejdinaj co-founded Code Works with a belief that technology should be built with as much care for the people using it as for the people building it. That belief shapes everything from the products the company ships to the culture it maintains internally.
As COO, Alexandra is the operational and cultural backbone of Code Works. She keeps the company aligned, the team cohesive, and the values that define the work intact as the organization grows. Her fingerprints are on how Code Works shows up for its clients, how its team members show up for each other, and how the company's mission stays legible across every project it takes on.
Alexandra brings warmth and rigor to client relationships in equal measure, ensuring that the people Code Works serves feel genuinely supported throughout the process.
Chris Frederick, Founder and CTO
M.S. Data Science, Indiana University
B.S. Computer Software Systems, Saint Louis
In addition to his role as the Chief Technology Officer at Code Works, Chris is a faculty member in the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame, where he researches and teaches graduate-level courses in data science.
Before co-founding Code Works, Chris held many high-impact roles, including director of the University of Notre Dame’s Data-Driven Decision Making Program and Manager of Business intelligence, as well as lead software developer for Walgreens.
Chris enjoys helping others overcome technology challenges and has consulted with businesses ranging from small nonprofits to Fortune 100 companies. Chris is always looking to uncover the “so what.” behind every problem, and he draws on his over 25 years of practical, hands-on, industry-based experience, and the latest academic research, to help organizations implement technology-driven change to drive their mission forward.
Jules DeLee, Director of Design and Development
B.A. in Studio Art & Visual Communication Design, Saint Mary’s College
Jules believes that the gap between a good product and a great one almost always comes down to craft. Not just how something works, but how it feels to use it, how clearly it communicates, and whether the person on the other end of it was genuinely considered in the process.
As Director of Design and Development, Jules leads the creative and technical execution of everything Code Works builds. She carries a project from early concept through to launch, holding the line on quality at every stage and making sure the final product actually reflects the intent behind it. Her background in studio art and visual communication gives her a perspective that's rare in technology work: equal fluency in aesthetics and systems, and an instinct for where the two should meet.
Jules is the reason Code Works products look the way they do, and more importantly, the reason they work the way they should.
David Mattingly, Director of Client Engagement and Success
B.S. of Communications: Public Relations, University of Dayton
M.S of Education in Higher Education Administration, University of Dayton
David is the person at Code Works who makes sure that what gets promised actually gets delivered, and that the people on the receiving end feel good about the process from start to finish.
As Director of Client Engagement and Success, he manages the relationships at the heart of Code Works' business. That means staying close to client needs as projects evolve, keeping communication clear when things get complicated, and making sure every partnership Code Works builds is one worth sustaining.
David brings a natural fluency with large institutions and the people inside them. He knows how to move things forward in environments where that isn't always easy, and our clients consistently have someone in him who is responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in their success.
Emily Sims, Director of Partnerships and Development
B.A. Communication Studies, Saint Mary's College
Emily believes that the best partnerships are built on a clear sense of shared purpose, and that the work of finding that common ground is worth taking seriously before anything else gets started.
As Director of Partnerships and Development, Emily is responsible for growing Code Works' reach and deepening its roots in the communities it serves. She works across the portfolio to identify partnership opportunities, develop funding strategies, and build the kinds of relationships that translate into lasting impact rather than one-time transactions.
She brings a background in nonprofit operations, fundraising, and strategic storytelling to a role that demands all three. Emily is the person in the room who can articulate why the work matters, connect it to the right people, and help turn a promising idea into something with real momentum behind it.
Brittany Gill, Program Operations Manager, South Bend Code School
B.A. Communications, Public Relations and Business, Indiana University South Bend

As Program Operations Manager, Brittany coordinates the full range of SBCS program activity: building partnerships with schools and organizations, managing logistics for programs and staff, and making sure students and families have what they need to participate and succeed. She brings warmth, organization, and a deep commitment to the people she serves to everything she touches.
